MORE INFORMATION ON SERVING IN WORSHIP

Adult Choir

The Adult Sanctuary Choir is made up of approximately 30 adult singers who meet weekly throughout the church year to rehearse and prepare service music as well as anthems, which are integrated into the 11 AM traditional worship service.  The goal of the choir is to lead and enhance the worship of the people of God.  Our focus is to present music, which is consistent with our Reformed theological tradition through beautiful melodies and harmonies, using both more traditional as well as modern and contemporary musical settings. The Adult Choir is made up of people who are committed to this ministry, care for one another in prayer and support, and enjoy one another’s company in rehearsal and fellowship opportunities.  Rehearsal time for the choir is Thursday night, 7:15 – 8:30 PM, with a break in the summer from June through August. For more information, please contact Mary Wolling at mary@beverlyheights.org.

First Song (for children pre-K and Kindergarten)

First Song Choir is a training choir for children ages 4 and 5, through the Kindergarten year. This choir prepares children for advancement into the New Song Choir. It gives the young child the opportunity to experiment with music in a safe environment where singing, movement, finger play, and beginning reading of notation is introduced. The emphasis is on training with this group. Singing with a clear pure sound is encouraged which is introduced through solfege, appealing children’s songs, folk songs, story songs, traditional, and contemporary Christian children’s repertoire. Thresholds to Music Charts are used for instruction in music reading. They perform one or two times a year, one of which is on Christmas Eve at the children’s service. Children learn age appropriate anthems as well as contemporary pieces which are offered in the worship services approximately every six weeks. Students play at various times but usually during Advent to accompany the candle lighting music.  Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays, 5:30-6:00 PM.  For more information, please contact Mary Wolling: mary@beverlyheights.org.

Note On Children’s Choirs and Tone Chimes: All children of Beverly Heights Church and friends are invited to participate in these programs.
